Benga Housing Community

Located on the mythical banks of the Zambezi River, the Benga Riverside Residential Community introduces a new neighbourhood typology for the growing community of Tete, Mozambique. The Benga Riverside community sits on a 40 ha of land with a plan to accommodate up to 150 affordable quality residential units built locally with clay firebricks. During the development process, the great part of the construction and maintenance team consisted of over fifty members of the nearby Benga village community, strong of the belief that sustainable development should empower local community and leverage the potential of local materials.

The masterplanned community also includes new social and educational hubs in the form of a primary school, sporting facilities, community centre and a public square.
